CANTINA BERRITA - Dorgali, Nuoro, Sardegna
About the Winery
Cantina Berritta is a family-run Sardinian winery. Vineyards are situated in the "classico" area for the Cannonau di Sardegna appellation in the province of Nuoro. Over a decade ago, Antonio took the reins from previous generations, and now he has passed the torch to his children. The family lives and works in the town of Dorgali. In addition to wine production (annual production is approximately 30,000 bottles per year), the farm is dedicated to cultivating olive trees, with about 3 hectares of land serving as an olive grove.
The family vineyards are embraced by the broader Oddoene valley. This valley exerts a positive influence on the region, creating a perfect micro-climate for winemaking, resulting in grapes of the highest quality and, consequently, wines of exceptional finesse. The area also boasts a soil rich in granite and limestone from the mountains that shape the valley. The Cannonau variety is the most cultivated grape, with a small space reserved for Syrah for red wines, while white wines are crafted from Vermentino, and a rare, indigenous variety – the Panzale. Berritta has succeeded in saving and honoring this indigenous variety from Dorgali. The story of “Panzale” grape variety is a testament to the dedication of a family preserving their land in every bottle.
The wines are an embodiment of authenticity, meticulously crafted in adherence to Sardinian traditions. In both vineyard and cellar, a commitment to organic practices reigns supreme, a conscious choice driven by their environmental responsibility and deep respect for the sheer beauty of the surrounding landscape.
Mediterranean identity wines, authentic, organic, a true pleasure for your taste buds, offering you emotional connection with the amazing terroir of Sardegna !
